Scottish independence and David Cameron

David Cameron has been taking the fight to Alex Salmond this week. It is a smart move in more ways than one. By starting the debate now Cameron is trying to force the vote early, choosing his metaphorical battleground.

Cameron also wants to make sure that there is a straight yes or no question. All of this has been observed by others.

There is another political advantage for Cameron. The policy appeals to Tory backbenchers and even the Liberal Democrats.

Cameron is no match for Alex Salmond. Salmond has made Cameron and his gimp, Osbourne, look like amateurs. It really does make me wonder if Cameron has any advisors. Maybe he really is arrogant enough to have the common Tory delusion that he has a divine right to rule

As everyone says Salmond is an incredibly successful politician. I wouldn't describe Cameron and Osborne in that way. Cameron has many advisers so I don't think your last statement is quite right.
