Job interviews: tie or no tie

The trend to wear a suit without a tie has taken hold in many corporate environments. Even Whitehall has succumbed as a visit to HM Treasury proved when I sat in their very nice cafe, surrounded by tieless mandarins.

When you a man goes for a job interview the conventional view is to wear a suit and tie. The problem is this smartness may say to your prospective employee that you won't fit the company culture.

On the whole it is best to err on the side of caution and don a good quality tie unless you are absolutely certain that a tie might be frowned upon.

For anyone out there looking for a job, good luck!
